A first look
Taprobane Island in Weligama is a stop guests add when they build a trip around a named house. SoloRoost lists it because it is on the map, not because we run a ticket booth here.
Ptolemy's Taprobana as published in Cosmographia Claudii Ptolomaei Alexandrini, 1535
Taprobane in the Catalan Atlas (1375): "Illa Trapobana".
History and meaning
Taprobana, Taprobana, and Taprobané was the name by which the Indian Ocean island of Sri Lanka was known to the ancient Greeks.
Being there
Give it more than a photograph. Walk the edges, sit once, and notice who else is here for ordinary reasons. Listed stays nearby appear on the Weligama hub when hosts publish. If a house is not on SoloRoost, we do not invent it.
